Before Anything Else

Why there is no single price

A private Sahara journey is not a fixed product. It is built around your specific travel dates, your group size, where you want to start and end, how many days you have, what level of accommodation you prefer, and what kind of desert camp experience you're looking for.

Two people travelling together cost more per person than four people sharing the same vehicle. A 5-day journey costs more than a 3-day journey. A premium camp costs more than a standard one. None of that should be surprising — but it is worth being transparent about from the start.

We will always give you a clear breakdown of what is included, what is excluded, and exactly why the price is what it is. No surprises after confirmation.

Our pricing policy: Final pricing is always confirmed after we understand your travel dates, group size, preferred comfort level, route, and accommodation expectations. We do not lock in a price until everything is clear on both sides.

Price vs Person

We quote per group, not per person

The vehicle is private to your group. The driver is dedicated to your journey. Those costs are fixed regardless of whether your group is 2, 4, or 6 people.

When you receive a quote from us, it will be a per-group total — not a per-person figure that looks cheaper but multiplies confusingly. If you want to understand the per-person cost, you simply divide by the number of travelers.

Example

A 3-day private Marrakech–Merzouga journey at comfort level might cost €790 for the group. For 2 travelers that is €395 per person. For 4 travelers sharing the same vehicle, the group cost may be slightly higher (say €950) but becomes €237.50 per person.

What Affects the Price

Every variable, explained honestly

Group Size

The larger your group, the lower the per-person cost — because the vehicle and driver costs are shared. Minimum group: 1 person. Maximum: typically 6 for a standard minivan.

Number of Days

Each additional day adds vehicle cost, accommodation, and often guide or activity costs. Adding one day can transform a rushed trip into a comfortable one — we always explain this if it applies to your route.

Accommodation Level

Standard guesthouses, comfortable mid-range riads, or carefully selected premium properties. We offer all three levels with honest descriptions of each — not marketing labels.

Desert Camp Level

Standard camp: shared bathroom, basic tent. Comfort camp: private bathroom, better tent. Premium: the best available in the dunes, private facilities, dinner service. We clarify exactly what each level means.

Starting City & Route Distance

Marrakech to Merzouga is roughly 560 km each way. Fes to Merzouga is different. Casablanca adds more distance. The starting city and route shape affect both driving days and total cost.

Vehicle Type

Standard air-conditioned vehicles for most groups. Larger 4WD or upgraded minivans for premium journeys or larger groups. We match the vehicle to your group size — no squeezing extra people in.

Optional Local Guides

A local English-speaking guide at specific sites (Ait Ben Haddou, Rissani medina, Fes medina) adds depth to the experience. Always optional, always clearly itemised in your quote.

Meals Included

Camp dinner and breakfast are typically included in the camp cost. Other meals vary by itinerary. We list exactly which meals are included in every quote — you will not be surprised by an unexpected restaurant bill.

Optional Activities

Camel riding, quad biking, sandboarding — available in the Merzouga area. Never included in the base price. Always listed as optional extras with their costs stated upfront.

Entrance Fees

Some sites charge entrance fees paid on arrival. These are typically paid directly by the traveler. We always specify in your quote whether any entrance fees are included or excluded.

Important: Premium and luxury versions of all routes are available at significantly higher prices depending on accommodation choice, camp selection, vehicle type, and season. We price every journey individually. These ranges are a guide only — not a guaranteed minimum. For larger groups (4–8 travelers), per-person costs reduce substantially as the vehicle cost is shared.
